Surfing in Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is one of Sri Lanka’s most sought-after surf destinations, and Pine and Palm is the perfect base to access it. Our hotel is walkable to Main Point, one of the most iconic surf breaks in the area, popular for advanced surfters. Beginners can also surf the Baby Point next to Main Point when it is working. During the shoulder season, you’ll find at least two surf points working, while the peak season offers up to eight surf points for all levels of surfers. Arugam Bay is great for surfers of all levels due to it having mostly sand-breaks (waves break on the sand instead of the reef). From beginners to advanced riders, there’s a spot for everyone. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, our surf team can take you to hidden gems further along the coastline, where you’ll ride waves in serene, more remote locations.

Yoga

Unwind after a day of surfing with a calming yoga session in our rooftop yoga shala. Our yoga sessions are designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance your body, preparing you for another day on the waves. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a complete beginner, our experienced instructors will guide you through the perfect practice to rejuvenate your body and mind.

Surf Safaris

For those wanting to discover more surf spots, our surf safaris are the perfect way to explore the coastline. A tuk tuk or jeep will take you to more remote surf breaks. Along the way, you may catch sight of elephants, crocodiles, peacocks, little green parrots, and water buffaloes. These safaris provide the ideal combination of adventure, surf, and nature.

Wildlife and Nature

Arugam Bay is more than just a surfer’s paradise, it’s also a place of incredible biodiversity. Venture out on a safari to Kumana National Park (45 minutes drive via Jeep) and you might encounter elephants, crocodiles, peacocks, and water buffalo in their natural habitat. If you’re lucky, you could even spot a leopard! Whether you’re exploring the coastline or wandering the surrounding jungle, Arugam Bay offers endless opportunities to connect with nature and witness the beauty of Sri Lanka’s wildlife.

Sunset Views

End your day with a breathtaking sunset. Arugam Bay is known for its incredible sunsets, and you’ll find plenty of scenic spots around Pine and Palm to watch the sky change colors over the Indian Ocean. Some of the most popular spots are Elephant Rock, Crocodile Rock, or just a spot in the sand on the beach. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or taking a stroll along the beach, it’s the perfect way to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventures.

Massages & Relaxation

After a day of surfing, yoga, or exploring the natural beauty of the area, indulge in a relaxing massage to soothe your muscles. Massage therapists around Arugam Bay offer a variety of treatments to help you unwind and rejuvenate. Whether you prefer a traditional Sri Lankan massage or something more specific to your needs, it’s the perfect way to relax after an active day.
